WHY I FOUNDED

My name is Hanru Reyneke, business owner, husband, and dad of three. This is my story and a sneak peak of what motivates me to stand-up and fight for the consumer.

A few years ago, before I founded Car Inspection, I was almost roped into buying a car that was in a major accident. My wife and I were looking to buy a car that would suit our growing family. I saw a VW Tiguan SUV which was advertised by a couple in Witbank. I contacted the seller. My family and I took a drive on a late autumn afternoon from Pretoria to Witbank to view and test drive the car. We met the couple and the gentleman selling the SUV and I took the car for a test drive while my wife and my kids stayed behind with the seller’s wife. I did not think of myself as a car expert back then, but as a technically minded person I was confident that I would make the right decision when buying a used car. We concluded the vehicle inspection and I was convinced this was a good car. I informed the seller I would buy the car! In my mind this was a done deal and I told the seller I would have the money ready the next day. Our family drove back to Pretoria with an air of excitement buzzing around in the car. We eventually found a good car for the right price! While I felt good about the deal, there was something else brewing that I did not know about…

Around 7:30pm that evening (which was a Sunday) I got a call from the seller. He informed me that he thought we are a lovely and honest family but, his conscience was bugging him. He then started to explain that the vehicle we were about to buy, was in a major accident and he felt guilty for not disclosing this information to me. Luckily, I decided not to buy the car. What I did not know was that my 3-year-old daughter gave the seller’s wife a lot of affection while they waited for us to conclude the vehicle inspection. I still think, the seller’s wife convinced him to be honest with me regarding the REAL condition of the vehicle.

The lesson I learned quickly promoted me to action. I hopped on Google, phoned two friends with auto-workshops and discovered that there was not a hassle-fee and cost-effective car inspection solution for the person looking to buy a used vehicle.

My entrepreneurial and fix-it-yourself attitude made me see not only a business opportunity, but also an opportunity to help fellow South Africans to buy a reliable used car in a good condition. I have now gone through the ropes and gathered a vast amount of experience and knowledge in the used car industry. The past couple of years taught me how daunting this task would be, and that I am among only a few other players (Gauteng and countrywide) championing the consumer’s cause when it comes to buying a second hand car.

P.S. The proof is always in the pudding and I want to show you that I am here to help.

I am offering you a FREE no-obligation, pre-inspection analysis on any used vehicle you are interested in buying. Make sure you also browse our complete vehicle inspection checklist.
